I have to brag.

I teach my kids at home. It is a very enjoyable and satisfying experience.

I really love teaching them. I have the luxury of giving them a depth to their education that I find lacking in public schools. As their father, I know them well and know how to approach them to keep it enjoyable.

Having said that, there are occasions when I have doubt that I can do as good a job as someone with a Masters Degree in education. Am I ripping my kids off? Am I failing them in the long run? To find out, we rely on state standardized testing.

My oldest son, Zachary, is in 1rst grade. I have the results of his testing. He scored a full grade above his level in most categories. In comprehension, he scored as a 4th grader. He maxed out the test, it couldn't get any higher.

My kindergartner, Joshua, did a great job as well, across the board. His comprehension was 2nd grade.

A confirmation of what I already knew, my kids are smart little sponges. And some relief for me. I am not failing them.

    How is my ultra fast response?
    I don't have internet, so ... much slowness is involved in replies. :)
    Other than that, I am doing good. Will probably die any day now. It's scheduled for the 5th of January, but I haven't been meeting many schedules since I retired from the military.

    You were pretty quiet after your injury. Quiet in your journal. You submitted some stuff in German, which I can't read, and then a bunch of lovely photos, but I am unqualified to comment on photography.
